Sustainable and innovative construction of smart buildings (September 2016 - March 2019)

The aim of the program is to develop products and technologies for the creation of a healthy living and working internal environment by combining research and development potential of enterprises and research organizations.

COST Action MP1406:
MultiscaleSolar - Multiscale in modelling and validation for solar photovoltaics (May 2015 - May 2019)

The Action yields, for the first time, validated multiscale understanding of nanostructure properties for optoelectronic applications, with a focus on third generation photovoltaics.

European project 7th FP:
WINSMART - Smart, lightweight, cost-effective and energy efficient windows based on novel material combinations (October 2012 - September 2016)

The main objective of the project was to develop a smart window system meeting the energy performance requirements set in the Europe 2020 strategy. Our scientific research work focused on the development of chromogenic and photoactive materials (WO3, W/T-oxide, W/V-oxide, TiO2, etc.) using sol-gel chemical approaches and the optimization of redox electrolytes. Our most impressive result was development of the 30 cm x 30 cm Photochromic prototype based on sol-gel materials.

R&D activities of the group are related to the development of metal oxide materials for different applications.

The promotion of science:

At various events or on request, the group carries on the hands-on workshop "Make Your Solar Cell". In theoretic part various types of solar cells and their operation are presented. Hands-on experiments enable each participant to fabricate a dye-sensitized solar cell and evaluate its efficiency. The choice of a material capturing the sun-light – a dye is optionally left to the participants.
